Hand sourced in Italy, this incredible Lombardy chest is truly one of the most special pieces we have ever found. The Italian dealer we sourced it from dated the piece to the mid-1680s, making it nearly 350 years old. It has the kind of presence, patina, and craftsmanship that simply cannot be replicated.

The richly figured walnut is absolutely beautiful, with incredible movement and variation across the three drawer fronts. Ornate brass hardware, a dramatically shaped apron, and carved cabriole legs with scrolling feet give this piece its unmistakably Italian silhouette. We especially love the warmth of the old walnut and the way centuries of age have only made it more beautiful.

This is a true statement antique—the kind of piece that can completely make a room. Use it as a dresser in a bedroom, beneath a favorite piece of art in a living room, or in an entry where it can really stand on its own. With three generous drawers, it also offers wonderful practical storage.

A truly exceptional piece and one we were very excited to bring home from Italy.

CONDITION

Good antique condition, consistent with its age and use. The drawers sit very slightly proud of the case when closed, consistent with the age and construction of the piece. There is a previous repair to the bottom right front corner, as photographed.
