Hand sourced by some of my favorite dealers in Provence, this beautifully shaped French walnut table has a classic violin-form top and softly curved silhouette. 

Crafted from warm-toned walnut, the surface shows a rich grain that catches the light and brings depth to the piece without feeling heavy. The slender central pedestal flows into three shaped legs, giving her a sense of movement while remaining grounded and practical.

Violin tables were often used as occasional or guéridon tables — easy to move and perfect for the small rituals of daily life. She would have held a candle beside a reading chair, supported a stack of books in a salon, or lived tucked beside a window layered with personal objects collected over time. The sculptural top adds interest without overwhelming a space, making her just as useful today in an entry, between chairs, or styled beside a sofa.

She would be beautiful holding a small lamp, a favorite frame, or a stack of well-loved books — the kind of piece that quietly supports a room while still bringing character and history.

CONDITION

Good condition with age-appropriate wear to the walnut surface, consistent with use and time. Minor looseness to the top, consistent with age and design. One minor spot of veneer loss on the pillar base and formerly repaired cracking, as photographed.
