Hand-sourced in France, this Louis XVI commode has a beautifully balanced, architectural form with clean lines and classic proportions. The soft painted finish shows gentle wear that allows the underlying wood and age to come through, giving the piece depth rather than polish.

This commode comes from one of my favorite husband-and-wife vendor teams, well known for their eye for antique, hand-painted pieces. Their work is consistently thoughtful and restrained, and the finishes they select always feel appropriate to the age and form of the furniture.

The five drawers offer generous storage, while the simple hardware and subtle detailing keep the silhouette calm and versatile. She works just as well in a bedroom as she does in an entry or living space—easy to style, easy to live with.

CONDITION

Case is in good sturdy condition. The finish shows signs of wear commensurate with age and use. The antique marble appears original and shows minor staining, natural veining, and mineral inclusions inherent to the stone. These markings are part of the marble’s formation and should NOT be confused with cracks. No structural issues noted.

As with all antique and vintage items, please note the presence of nicks, scratches, cracks, denting, and similar wear commensurate with age and use, the item is as photographed.
