A beautifully atmospheric antique English oil on canvas, this seascape captures a tranquil maritime scene with a timeless sense of calm. This largely sized canvas, measuring 37” in width, depicts several sailboats drifting gently across the water beneath a soft sky, accompanied by several birds in flight across the composition. In the distance, a lighthouse and faint cityscape emerge on the horizon, lending depth and narrative to the scene.
Rendered in a palette of soft, muted tones, the painting conveys a quiet elegance and understated mood typical of turn-of-the-century marine works. Signed by A.M. Smith and dated 1900, the piece reflects both period charm and skilled hand. Its gentle coloration and balanced composition make it a soothing and refined addition to any interior, particularly well suited to traditional or coastal-inspired spaces.
